TAKING THE JESUS PILL
TAKING THE JESUS PILL, an original production by
singer/songwriter/artist Charlie Terrell. Described by Terrell as “a Southern Gothic tale about a snake-handling preacher, his alcoholic wife and his wild-ass daughter,” TAKING THE JESUS PILL tells its story using mediums including drama, painting, music, film and dance.

TAKING THE JESUS PILL follows the journey of the beautiful, young Tina as she struggles for independence from her domineering father and long-suffering mother. With the help of the hapless Johnny 3:16, Tina escapes a world of evangelical hell to go in search of the “Little Blue Windmill By the Sea.” What she finds along the way is more than she ever bargained for.

In a departure from the traditional musical format, TAKING THE JESUS PILL is a production in which Terrell and his band act as the musical narrators, adding layers of complexity to the action. The music, art projected on the walls, and the audience’s interaction all play important roles in bringing this tale of despair, dreams and desire to life.

Conceived, written and directed by C.A. Terrell. Making it's New York City debut at "The Box" Chrystie Street, February 18th 2006
